The search for James Montgomery, an elderly Philadelphia resident reported missing earlier this week, has come to a close as local authorities report he has been safely located. Montgomery, 87, was last seen near the 900 block of Cross Street on June 22, 2024, and his disappearance raised concerns due to his advanced age and possible health issues.

Details surrounding the circumstances of his disappearance and the eventual safe return are still emerging. Originally, wearing a tan short-sleeve button-up shirt, a black long-sleeve shirt underneath, blue jeans, and tan sandals, Montgomery's appearance was widely circulated in hopes of a member of the public recognizing him. Last seen at 3:30 pm, Montgomery's height of 5'10" and his 110-pound frame was said to be easily identifiable, according to the Philadelphia Police Department in an update.

Community members and local authorities were deeply involved in the search. At the time of his disappearance, the police detailed that Montgomery may have been in the vicinity of 13th and Pine Streets or 10th and Cross Streets, areas that are generally bustling with local foot traffic and activities, potentially yielding numerous eyewitnesses.
