Police Seek Public Help as Robbery and Burglary Incidents Strike Maryland CommunitiesSource: Anne Arundel County, Maryland

In a string of recent criminal incidents that occurred in Maryland, police have been actively engaging with the community to apprehend suspects involved in separate events of robbery and residential burglary. According to the Anne Arundel County police press release earlier this week, a 53-year-old man was assaulted and robbed by two unidentified males in the vicinity of Phirne Road and Glen Mar Road in Glen Burnie. The suspects, who have yet to be identified, allegedly stabbed the victim with an unknown object before absconding with his belongings.

The Eastern District detectives are now sifting through information and seeking assistance from the public. Those with knowledge of the altercation, that resulted in a non-life-threatening injury to the victim, are encouraged to come forward. He was later attended to at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center. The individuals responsible for the incident made away with personal items, including the victim's wallet and cell phone. Tips can be directed to 410-222-6145 or the anonymous Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

Similarly, during the early hours of June 25, officers responded to a reported burglary in progress within the 8200 block of Brushyridge Road in Laurel. Police encountered three males unlawfully present in a vacant apartment. Upon arrival, the suspects attempted to elude capture but were eventually caught using the combined efforts of officers and police canines, one of which discovered a loaded stolen 9mm handgun during the pursuit. The retrieved firearm is thought to be linked to the suspects involved in this intrusion.

Two of the male suspects, identified as Deon W. Hawkins-Proctor, an 18-year-old from Waldorf, Maryland, and Travon A. Short, a 19-year-old also hailing from Waldorf, were taken into police custody. Investigations by the Western District detectives are ongoing, and they, too, are asking for the public's assistance. Any individual with information pertinent to the case is asked to reach out to 410-222-6155 or utilize the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.
