A recent chase following a robbery in West Adams culminated in a deadly crash and a homicide investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department. The incident unfolded around 6 p.m. near the 2600 block of S. Harcourt Avenue, as reported by CBS News.

The victim, in pursuit of justice or perhaps some measure of restitution, chased after robbers in his Mercedes-Benz SUV. According to an LAPD statement obtained by CBS News, the high-speed chase ended when the victim intentionally rammed into the getaway car, causing it to slam into a light pole. The collision proved fatal for the 32-year-old driver of the sedan.

After the crash, chaos ensued. From the wreckage, two passengers emerged and discharged multiple shots at the robbery victim before fleeing in an unknown car. Despite the disarray and danger, the victim remained at the scene, awaiting the arrival of law enforcement. As shared by KTLA, one of the suspected shooters was subsequently discovered by a K9 unit hiding in a nearby backyard and has been taken into custody.

As of now, no arrests related to the initial robbery have been made, as per ABC7. The 21-year-old who turned from victim to pursuer is cooperating with the investigation.
