The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) has confirmed the arrest of a man accused of a string of thefts at local James Avery jewelry stores. Jeremy Ramirez, 29, reportedly took more than $5,000 worth of jewelry in early May.

According to KSAT, Ramirez was caught on surveillance footage from the James Avery store during the theft. Walking into the store without a weapon, the police say he later left with stolen goods. Wanted by police for allegedly visiting various stores and swiping jewelry from display cases, Ramirez was seen fleeing in a white vehicle.

After the store owner provided the video evidence to the authorities, SAPD took the step of sharing the footage on Facebook, enlisting the community's assistance in identifying the accused. Ramirez's arrest occurred on June 24, following an anonymous tip that led to police obtaining a warrant. The tip, as reported by KENS 5, was instrumental in positively identifying him.

Ramirez was taken into custody at his place of work, now set to face felony theft charges. The extent of the case against him has been detailed in statements by police and reinforced by civilian involvement that aided his eventual arrest.
