San Antonio is grappling with the aftermath of a fatal shooting that ended in a car crash on the West Side late Tuesday night. According to KSAT, the violence erupted around 11:30 p.m. and left three people dead. Officials reported that the drivers on West Martin Street were embroiled in a gunfire exchange which led to one of the vehicles careening into a ditch.

While sitting on some steps, a homeless man and woman found themselves in the path of the vehicle that had strayed off the roadway. Struck by the out-of-control car, the 37-year-old man was pinned underneath and pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman sustained injuries and received treatment from emergency crews. The state of the driver, initially rushed to the hospital in a critical state, later succumbed to death, elevating the toll to three.

KENS 5 detailed that when officers reached the location at the intersection of West Martin Street and Northwest 24th Street, they discovered a car punctured by bullets on both sides in the ditch. Inside the vehicle was a 27-year-old woman who had been shot and was later declared dead. The 31-year-old driver had to be extracted by first responders.

Law enforcement authorities have been actively trying to piece together the chaotic events and are on the lookout for the suspect involved in the shootings.
