San Marcos Welcomes New Assistant City Managers to Guide Future GrowthSource: City of San Marcos

The City of San Marcos has named its two new Assistant City Managers, Rodney Gonzales and Lonzo Anderson, appointments that fill the gap left by the retirements of previous incumbents Laurie Moyer and Chase Stapp. City Manager Stephanie Reyes announced the conclusion of a nationwide search that saw Gonzales and Anderson emerge as the candidates of choice to help navigate the city's growth and development, as per the City of San Marcos.

Gonzales, an alumnus of Texas State University with over 28 years in municipal government, revisits San Marcos after nearly two decades, his last tour as the City's Finance Director. Since March, he's been the Interim Assistant City Manager overseeing public safety and is now responsible for several key departments including Parks and Recreation and Public Works. "I am excited to bring my experience and passion for public service back to San Marcos. Working closely with the community and our dedicated city staff, I aim to implement strategies that will support the projected growth for San Marcos and continue to improve the quality of life for all our residents," Gonzales said, as  stated by the City of San Marcos

Anderson joins the team with a rich background in law enforcement and municipal governance, most noticeably as the Interim Chief of Police in Dallas, according to the City of San Marcos. He brings over 27 years of experience to the table, particularly in areas of strategic planning and community engagement. Anderson is set to oversee the Police, Fire, Neighborhood Enhancement, the Marshal’s Office, and Emergency Coordination. He holds a bachelor's degree in Criminal—Justice and Business from Tarleton State University and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Liberty University
