On Thursday evening, a situation at Bicentennial Park could have easily escalated. Yet, due to the level-headed response of the Santa Rosa Police Department, it ended with a simple arrest. A concerned citizen alerted the police that a group was drinking beer at the park alongside Range Avenue, which led to the discovery of more concerning criminal activity. As per the Santa Rosa Police Department, officers, responding quickly to the scene, encountered the group violating a city ordinance by consuming alcohol on park premises.

The account details how an observant officer noticed a man in the group, later identified as Marco Antonio Flores, attempting to hide an object in his waistband. Despite the tension, the officer's prompt and composed engagement with Flores remained. This careful approach prevented a potential uprising and paved the way for a safer resolution. Flores grew increasingly apprehensive but ultimately cooperative in a display of heightened nerves as the officer persisted with calm queries.

With backup on the scene, police took the necessary steps to ensure the safety of all involved. It was then they found that the suspect was unlawfully carrying a loaded semi-automatic handgun. The arrest of Flores, a 22-year-old from Santa Rosa, followed shortly. He faces charges of carrying a concealed and loaded firearm without being the registered owner, according to the police department's official communication.

Flores was transported to Sonoma County Jail, where he was booked for the aforementioned firearms violations.
