A semi-truck driver has been charged with careless driving following an accident in a construction zone near Lansing. According to Audacy, the crash occurred on Monday around 12:30 p.m. in Delhi Township, just south of Lansing. Michigan State Police reported that the semi, which was hauling two gravel trailers, veered off the road in the construction zone on southbound US-127. The driver's attempt to correct the vehicle's course resulted in losing control of the rig.
While swinging violently, the second gravel hauler struck a parked construction vehicle containing two workers, fortunately only causing minor injuries to the passenger. Caught on camera by a dashcam from another truck, the video of the collision has been posted online by the MSP First District. As stated on their social media, captured behind the horror was a stinging reminder returned to the importance of driver awareness and safety regulations in construction areas.

The stationary truck's passenger was reported to have sustained only minor injuries after the collision, while the semi-truck driver walked away unharmed. Michigan State Police underscored the potential severity of the incident, indicating that the outcome could have been far graver. "Reminder of the importance of slowing down and paying attention in the construction zones. This crash could have turned out a lot worse", officials stated, as per the MSP First District.
For their careless maneuver, the gravel hauler driver faces a fine, which, in a construction zone, can reach up to $1,000.
