Passengers at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport faced disruptions with AT&T and T-Mobile services on Thursday morning, according to a KVUE report. The outage blocked access to phone calls and cell service for customers of these carriers, the airport confirmed via a social media alert to travelers, advising them to print out boarding passes or capture them in screenshots before arrival, or to check-in at airport kiosks.
AT&T described the situation as potentially stemming from "an intentional act," citing a "fiber cut" that impacted services, though they indicated that a resolution was underway, according to the airport's post.
However, in contrast, a spokesperson for the airport, Lesly Ramirez said, as noted by Austin American-Statesman, "the disruption was caused by an AT&T circuit failure".
While no other airports were reported as having similar issues, AT&T and T-Mobile, along with Verizon and global news agency Reuters, were also reportedly grappling with connection issues internationally that Thursday morning, as per KVUE.
