A suspect has been arrested in connection with a felony hit-and-run case that occurred on June 8, in Moorpark, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. The incident left several injured and claimed the life of a resident's dog.

The collision happened at the intersection of Los Angeles Avenue, and Tierra Rejada Road, where authorities say a Honda Odyssey was struck by a Ford Explorer that ran a red light. Following the initial crash, the driver of the Ford Explorer reportedly fled the scene. The occupants of the struck Honda were transported to a hospital for treatment, their conditions have not been disclosed. In a tragic turn of events, while deputies were investigating the crash, they were alerted to another hit-and-run involving the same suspect vehicle, which resulted in a dog's death.

The Moorpark Police Department, supported by Ventura County Fire and American Medical Response, worked together in response to the situation. Ultimately, the suspect's vehicle was found unoccupied with substantial damage consistent with the reported collisions. The driver, identified as 29-year-old Jesus Sanchez Valencia, was linked to the crimes through evidence discovered within the abandoned vehicle. As reported by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle was parked in the 200 block of Ruth Avenue when it was found and subsequently confiscated.
