A man has died as a result of a stabbing incident following an argument with a neighbor in Redford Township last Sunday, police have confirmed. Officers responded to the scene near Seven Mile Road at approximately 3:40 p.m. to find a man critically injured from what appeared to be stabbing wounds and a suspect still present. According to The Detroit News, the suspect was swiftly taken into custody without further incident.

Investigators revealed the disturbance was an escalation of long-standing disagreements between the two residents, who had repeatedly reported one another to the police over several years. Det. Edward French of the Redford Police noted the tragic outcome of the altercation saying, "One neighbor produced a knife and lunged at (the other)", as cited by FOX 2 Detroit. The man under attack managed to then wrestle the knife away and fatally wound the aggressor.

The deceased, a man in his 60s, was reportedly involved in disputes ranging from an unkempt backyard to more severe allegations like a marijuana growing operation and property damage. Det. French further elaborated on the issues, including "larcenies, stealing things, damaging property, not taking care of property, grass ordinance type violations, things of that nature", according to FOX 2 Detroit.

The suspect, a man in his 30s and an army veteran with combat experience, is now being held as he awaits charges. Det. French stated, as per FOX 2 Detroit, "If this is a self-defense scenario, then that’s up for the prosecutor’s office to decide". The case remains under investigation and local authorities are urging anyone with more information to step forward and contact them.

As reported by WWJ Newsradio, the authorities have not yet released any names or further details about the nature of the altercation. However, they have assured the public that there is no further danger to the community relating to this incident. Detective E. French can be reached at 313-387-2579 for any information concerning this case.
