Tacodeli Expands Austin Footprint, New South Lamar Location Opens with Special OffersSource: Tacodeli

Austin's favorite taco chain, Tacodeli, is set to open a new outpost on South Lamar Boulevard, transforming what was once the home of Mexican restaurant Masa y Más into its ninth Austin location. Slated to begin serving its variety of tacos starting July 17, Tacodeli will continue to dish out breakfast, lunch, and dinner favorites, with the promise of some indulgent $5 margaritas and tantalizing giveaways on the grand opening day.

The beloved Austin establishment, founded back in 1999 by chef Roberto Espinosa and partner Eric Wilkerson, has steadily grown to cover a fair share of the Texas taco terrain with 13 locations. As Tacodeli gears up to proudly celebrate 25 years on their home turf this year, they are excited to, somewhat aggressively, expand their presence in the food scene of South Austin. Espinosa expressed this anticipation in a news release stating, "With Tacodeli celebrating 25 years in Austin this year, we are so excited to continue to grow in our hometown and be part of the South Lamar corridor," according to MySA.

The menu at Tacodeli encompasses a variety of tacos, with prices typically ranging from $4 to $6 per item. Their cantina offers a host of beverages, including the likes of ranch water, margaritas, beers, and wine, all falling in a budget-friendly bracket of $4 to $10. A special addition awaits patrons at the South Lamar venue with the introduction of an exclusive cocktail menu, highlighted by the Doña Rita margarita, crafted using the restaurant's signature spicy green Salsa Doña.

Occupying 1817 S. Lamar Blvd., the latest Tacodeli iteration is located in a neighborhood known for its bustling eateries and shops. Here, guests can enjoy an indoor dining space or unwind on the patio. The South Lamar location eagerly looks to seamlessly blend into the community vibes and serving hours are designed to cater to the early risers and the night owls alike, operating from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. during weekdays and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. over the weekends. The past tenant, Masa y Más, which had set up shop in January 2023, quietly closed their doors after an 18-month run, handing over the reins with good wishes to their friends at Tacodeli, hoping for them to carry on the taco saga in South Lamar, as reported by Eater Austin.
