A 16-year-old is hospitalized following a collision with a Houston Police Department patrol car while the teen was riding an electric scooter downtown. The incident, which occurred just after 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Crawford and Rusk Streets, resulted in the scooter being trapped under the police vehicle, with the teenager being thrown over the hood, according to a report from Click2Houston.

The officer involved was not injured, and the young individual began vomiting extensively before being attended to by the Houston Fire Department. There are numerous cameras in the area that the authorities are currently reviewing as part of their ongoing investigation into the crash. The teen was transported to a trauma center and remains in critical condition, though survival is expected.

Concurrently, KHOU reports that the HPD said the collision occurred as the patrol car, which had the green light at the time, was traveling through the intersection. The 16-year-old purportedly crossed in front of the patrol car, leading to the incident.
