A teenage boy was fatally shot in Seattle's New Holly neighborhood, leading to a homicide investigation by local authorities. The Seattle Police Department received a call about the incident in the 7400 block of Rockery Drive South shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, as reported by the SPD Blotter. Upon arrival, police discovered the unresponsive victim with a gunshot wound.
Emergency care was initially provided by officers at the scene until the Seattle Fire Department arrived and transported a male to Harborview Medical Center, as per the Seattle Police Department. Despite efforts by medical personnel at Harborview, the victim did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased. No information on the identity of the victim has been released at this time.
Following the shooting, certain individuals were detained after a pursuit that ended in Everett, Washington. The Seattle Police Department has stated that the investigation is "active and ongoing". The Homicide Unit detectives are currently working to piece together the circumstances leading up to the tragic event.
