Tragedy struck early Friday in Monterey Park when three people were killed in a high-speed SUV crash that resulted in an occupant being ejected onto the roof of a residence. As reported by KTLA, the collision occurred just after midnight, involving the vehicle slamming into parked cars and a power pole on East Graves Avenue near Cecil Street.

Monterey Park Police Captain Bill Cuevas, speaking to NBC Los Angeles, disclosed that officers on patrol responded immediately upon hearing the collision.

The aftermath of the crash left two injured, including a 7-year-old child. Both the child and the driver, who were alert and talking Friday morning, were hospitalized. The 7-year-old was believed to have been the only one wearing a seatbelt during the incident. "During the investigation, one occupant was missing, so they started canvassing," Captain Cuevas told NBC Los Angeles. A search ensued, resulting in the discovery of a male adult dead on a nearby home's roof.

Authorities initially found one victim ejected from the black SUV while three others were trapped inside the vehicle. The violent nature of the crash indicated the SUV had struck a tree, hit several vehicles, and then rolled over onto its roof, as detailed by CBS News Los Angeles.
