Universal Orlando Resort Unveils 'Ghostbusters, Frozen Empire' Haunt for Halloween Horror NightsSource: Google Street View

Bringing the chill of the supernatural to the sweltering Floridian summer, Universal Orlando Resort is gearing up to scare the living daylights out of guests with its new 'Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire' haunted house at this year's Halloween Horror Nights. As reported by Orlando Weekly, the themed attraction drops visitors right into the middle of a frostbitten New York City, where the iconic Ghostbusters team battles against Garraka, a spirit who seems pretty keen on dropping the temperature and citizens to deadly levels.

Starting on Aug. 30 and running through Nov. 5, fans can experience scenes straight out of the franchise's latest cinematic installment. The journey will take them from Ray’s Occult Books to the depths of the NYC sewers and then to the Ghostbusters' lab, which, let's face it, is about as close as most of us will ever get to actual ghostbusting. FOX 35 Orlando indicated that attendees will fight ghostly foes alongside both the Spengler family and the original ghost-catching crew.

Get ready to be slammed by icy evil and familiar specters, including the lovably gluttonous Slimer. There's talk among the ghoulish grapevine that smaller but equally charismatic confections, the mini Stay Pufts from the newer Ghostbusters films, may also surface and would be more than welcome by fans craving a serving of nostalgia with their shrieks.

Universal is throwing in a full spread this year, with a total of 10 haunted houses and five scare zones. While eight of these houses have been divulged, such as 'A Quiet Place' and a handful of original concepts like 'Monstruos: The Monsters of Latin America' and 'Major Sweets Candy Factory', speculation abounds concerning the themes of the remaining two undisclosed attractions. A nod to Universal's classic monsters wouldn't be out of the question, especially since Universal's new Dark Universe land is en route.

Tickets for this spooktacular event are already available for purchase on Universal's website, along with a premium option for the bravest of the brave who might want to kick off their scares a day early. Additionally, special merchandise keyed to the 'Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire' house and others is for sale both online and within the park itself, for those looking to take a piece of the phantasmal pandemonium home.
