Vallejo Police Arrest Driver for DUI and Possession of a Loaded Firearm After High-Speed ChaseSource: Vallejo Police Department

On Monday evening, Vallejo patrol officers spotted a 2002 Toyota Camry hurtling down Oakwood Street. The sequence of events that unfolded resulted in a driver's arrest for multiple charges, including driving under the influence and carrying a fully loaded firearm. The Vallejo Police Department recounted the night's events in a Facebook post, detailing how the situation escalated when they attempted to pull over the speeding vehicle.

The driver of the Camry, choosing to not just comply, accelerated and began to drive on the wrong side of the road, prompting officers to pursue. This brief chase concluded near the intersection of Maple Avenue and Concord in Vallejo, where the driver finally pulled over. According to the Vallejo Police Department, officers noted the driver showed "objective signs of being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and marijuana."

Following the traffic stop, the driver was arrested and a subsequent search of his person and the vehicle revealed a concealed, fully loaded firearm near the front passenger seat. As a result, the Camry was towed, and the driver, whose identity had not been disclosed by authorities, was booked into Solano County Jail. His charges include evading police, carrying a concealed weapon, and driving under the influence.
