Windsor Police Apprehend Minor With Loaded Gun, Accomplice Charged with Providing False ID During Traffic StopSource: Windsor Police Department

A routine vehicle stop turned into the arrest of a 17-year-old, who was found with a loaded handgun and his adult accomplice, charged with providing false identification to a police officer. The Windsor Police Department made the arrests on Wednesday night, resulting in swift action to address the concern of a firearm in the hands of a minor.

The incident started when Agustin Carranza, 27, was pulled over for a vehicle code infringement. Deputies detected alcohol odor and found that one of the two juveniles present had marijuana in possession, according to the Windsor Police Department. While searching the car, a .22 caliber revolver was discovered in a black bag, which the police linked to the underage individual, who was also found with gang paraphernalia.

Once backup arrived at the scene, all four car occupants were removed, allowing deputies to conduct the search that led to the discoveries. The police statement described the find as a loaded firearm, gang-related items, and a container with empty beer cans and a bottle of tequila.

After his initial deceit, Carranza was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of providing false identification to a law enforcement officer and later released on a citation, promising to appear in court. The juvenile, whose name has been withheld due to age, faces several charges: carrying a loaded firearm, minor possession of a firearm, and having a loaded gun in a vehicle, the department post detailed.

The Windsor Police Department, maintaining its stance on community safety, has reassured the public of its dedication and continuous efforts to secure the town's residents. They encourage anyone with information to contact them at (707) 838-1234.
