Tomorrow: 'For A Good Paws' Benefit To Raise Money For Rescue Dogs At Milk BarPhoto: Camden Avery/Hoodline

Looking to catch some bands and raise money for some down-on-their-luck pooches? Then head over to Milk Bar tomorrow night and get down for a good cause.

Local dog-walking company Ruff Paws has teamed up with Soma Concerts to put on the first-ever "For A Good Paws" concert, with 100 percent of proceeds going directly to Family Dog Rescue. The Potrero Hill-based animal shelter, which is entirely donation-based, saves 800+ dogs at risk of being euthanized each year. Costs for running a shelter are very high, and Family Dog is always in need of funding for everything from food to expensive surgeries.

The show is the brainchild of Ruff Paws' Mike Johnston, a dog lover who's keen on gaining exposure for his new band, Farhead. He also has a special place in his heart for rescues, offering clients with rescue dogs a discount on his dog-walking services.

Johnston, who first met the Family Dog Rescue team at the Duboce Park DogFest back in April, has been working to organize the concert, the capstone of Family Dog's 13th annual August fundraising event, ever since. This year's fundraising theme has been "Cancerversary," as Family Dog seeks to raise $50K in commemoration of founder Angela Lucia Padilla's successful fight against breast cancer.

In addition to Johnston's band Farhead, the event will feature local bands The Greening and The St. Ides, and will be emceed by local comedian Leslie Small. Stanyan Street's Green Pawz will host a raffle for free pet grooming, and Family Dog Rescue will have a setup inside providing all the information attendees need to support the organization or learn how to rescue a dog of their own.

"I don't understand what anyone wouldn't want to come—it's literally 'for a good paws!'" joked Johnston. "It's all local artists, and all of the money is going to Family Dog. There's literally not an ounce of bad blood in this whole thing."

Doors are at 8pm and the show starts at 9pm. Tickets are $8 and will be available at the door. If you can't make it, but would still like to donate to Family Dog Rescue, go here.
