The sun has returned to the Outer Sunset (for now). Here's what you can get up to this weekend without leaving the neighborhood.
Today is, of course, St. Patrick's Day, and you can celebrate the luck of the Irish with an all-day Irish music festival at the United Irish Cultural Center. They'll be serving up classic pub grub straight from their on-site pub, starting with lunch.
Friday sees a benefit concert and art exhibit for the Homeless Youth Alliance at the Honey Hive. Tickets are $10, and concertgoers can also purchase art to benefit the HYA, or make a donation directly to the organization.
On Saturday, art aficionados have their choice of two openings. Anne Herbst celebrates the spring equinox with a new exhibition at Far Out Gallery (FOG), while Great Highway Gallery hosts a reception for "Tales from Topographic Oceans."
Finally, on Wednesday, Katy Tang's office and Taraval Station are hosting a community meeting on safety at the Ortega Branch Library. This is sure to be a crowded event, as the last one saw 200 concerned residents in the audience, so you may want to arrive early to ensure your seat.
And now, dear Outer Sunset residents, into the fray and onto the rest of the week. For more events around the city, check out our full calendar at hoodline.com/events.
