Yesterday, a DUI driver was arrested in Petaluma after causing a head-on collision that injured another party. According to a press release from the Petaluma Police Department, Douglas Green, a 70-year-old Petaluma resident, was found to be intoxicated during the time of the accident.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:40 PM near Stony Point Rd and Petaluma Blvd N when Green made a wide turn and crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic, colliding head-on with another vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital, as reported by Petaluma PD.
Upon investigation, officers discovered that Green's driver's license had been suspended due to a prior DUI. Green displayed obvious signs of intoxication, leading officers to conduct a DUI investigation. He was ultimately arrested and charged with DUI Collison Causing Injury (23153(a) CVC) and Driving with a Suspended License for DUI (14601.2(a) CVC).
The injured driver's condition remains undisclosed.
