4 Teen Bike Thieves Busted in Brazen Sonoma Shoplift AttemptSource: Facebook / Sonoma Police Department

Yesterday, a brazen bicycle theft from a Broadway store in Sonoma was thwarted by the owner, who managed to retrieve the bicycle after four youths attempted to steal it. Details from the Sonoma Police Department's Facebook page explain that the culprits are now facing robust legal consequences.

Responding to a 911 call at about 2:12 p.m. on Tuesday, the police found that physical force was used in the commission of the theft, elevating the crime to strong-arm robbery. The suspects split up in an effort to evade capture, but police quickly apprehended three of them. The fourth suspect fled towards a high school and inadvertently involved an unaffiliated student in the fray, only to be captured on the school grounds by deputies.

The final suspect's run-in with a high school student resulted in a secondary disturbance, yet all four suspects were eventually apprehended. Each juvenile, aged between 14 and 17, has been detained and is now facing serious charges, including robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, with two of them additionally accused of resisting arrest. Their identities have not been disclosed due to their minor status.
