Sonoma Schools Were on Edge Last Week, Violent Threats Forced Shelter-in-Place ProtocolsSource: Google Street View

On Thursday, November 9, several schools in Sonoma Valley were subjected to a violent threat, putting students and staff under shelter-in-place protocols. As per the Sonoma Police Department press release, an unidentified individual sent an email at 9:49 am to a staff member at Sonoma Valley High School, threatening a specific killing using a firearm on school grounds.

The Sonoma Police Department and school officials acted with prudence and not only put Sonoma Valley High School, but also Creekside High School, Adele Harrison Middle School, and Prestwood Elementary School under a shelter-in-place protocol. These actions afforded local law enforcement and the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office time to track down the threat and ensure the safety of everyone.
