Nama Sushi Bar now open in Mount Vernon TrianglePhoto: Veronique L./Yelp

A new sushi bar has opened its doors in the neighborhood. The fresh arrival to Mount Vernon Triangle, called Nama Sushi Bar, is located at 465 K St. NW.

The eatery comes courtesy of chef Michael Schlow, and he's located this latest endeavor next to one of his two Italian restaurants, Alta Strada. (The other is Casolare.)

Nama is serving nigiri, sashimi and maki rolls, including one that joins spicy salmon, shiso and mango. Vegetarians have nigiri options, too; spicy beet tartare is combined with quinoa, white soy and mint. In addition to sushi, there are small plates like kobe sliders and pork gyoza in soy-truffle broth.

Drinks range from Beer Lao to sake to Japanese whisky to cocktails.

The newcomer has already attracted fans thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Allison Z. wrote, “Had an awesome meal here. We did the chef's selection, and the fish was very fresh and well prepared.”

Motto Z. added, "Had an excellent meal here last week. Kobe slider, spicy scallop roll and sushi chef selection is amazing. However, you will definitely get what you pay for and vice versa. This place is a bit pricey."

Head on over to check it out: Nama Sushi Bar is open from 5–10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, and 5–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
