Peter Case and Jessica Malone at The Side Door

The folk and blues musician Peter Case is a three-time Grammy nominee noted for his work with the Nerves and the Plimsouls. Opening for him at The Fifth String's Side Door venue is Jessica Malone, a homegrown Northern California indie-folk and Americana artist.

The Echoing Change Tour: Sacramento

On Saturday, CSUS will host the Echoing Change charity tour to benefit Penny Appeal USA, an Islamic anti-poverty association which provides digital, education and social resources to refugee families, undocumented immigrants, and other disadvantaged communities in the U.S. 

Performers will include Brother Ali (hip-hop), Tariq Toure (spoken word poetry), Jawad Mecka (music) and Azeem Mohammed (comedy). All proceeds will go to benefit Penny Appeal.

When: Saturday, December 1, 6-9 p.m.

Upcycle Pop Spark - Eco Holiday Market

UpcyclePop is a co-working environment for artists using recycled materials, as well as an interactive art gallery and art market.

During its free holiday fair on December 2, attendees can shop, listen to live music, play with the interactive exhibits, watch artists at work and buy beer, wine and kombucha.

Heart of Travel Annual Party & Fundraiser

Travel agency Heart of Travel is sponsoring volcano relief efforts in Guatemala in partnership with a local Sacramento nonprofit, Changing the Streets.

A ticket to this event comes with one drink and meal voucher, but attendees can also buy Latin American street food and drinks, listen to music and enter a raffle. All proceeds will be used to provide "quality, long-term assistance" to women and children who were victims of the volcanic eruption last June.

When: Sunday, December 2, 4-7 p.m.
