Author Talk: Dorothy Butler Gilliam of 'Trailblazer'
First, the National Press Club welcomes journalist Dorothy Butler Gilliam for a chat on Thursday. Gilliam has written a memoir exploring her life and career, from fresh-faced reporter covering school integration in Arkansas in the 1950s to a 30-year veteran of the Washington Post and president of the National Association of Black Journalists. Books will be available for purchase, and Gilliam will sign copies following her presentation and Q&A session.

Australia Day Party

The Candy Snatchers
Finally, legendary Virginia Beach punkers The Candy Snatchers play Slash Run on Saturday. The group, known for its chaotic live performances, lost its guitar player and founding member Matthew Odietus to overdose in 2008 — but not before recording material that would become "Moronic Pleasures: The Lost Album," released in 2017 by Fandango Records. Zodiac Panthers will open the show.
