Looking to sample the best sushi around town?

Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the best affordable sushi hot spots in Pittsburgh, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to venture next time you're on the hunt.


1. Mount Everest Sushi

Topping the list is Mount Everest Sushi. Located at 128 Oakland Ave. in Oakland, the sushi bar and Asian fusion spot, which offers poke and more, is the highest rated cheap sushi spot in Pittsburgh, boasting 4.5 stars out of 170 reviews on Yelp.

Specialty rolls include the Steeler Roll, made with shrimp tempura and avocado, topped with seared salmon, and the White Mountain Roll with spicy crab, shrimp tempura, cucumber and avocado. A la carte items include eel, octopus and mackerel. The business also offers delivery.

2. Té Café

Next up is Squirrel Hill South's Té Café, situated at 2000 Murray Ave. With 4.5 stars out of 111 reviews on Yelp, the sushi bar, which offers coffee and tea and more, has proven to be a local favorite for those looking for a low-priced option.

Featured rolls include the eel roll with salmon, cucumber, carrots, avocado and teriyaki sauce. Sides included edamame, miso soup, seaweed salad and sushi rice. This spot offers take-out.

3. Oishii Bento

Oakland's Oishii Bento, located at 119 Oakland Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the cheap sushi bar, Japanese and Korean spot four stars out of 276 reviews.

Try the Philadelphia Roll with smoked salmon and cream cheese, or the Una-Q Roll with eel, avocado and cucumber. Bento boxes, bowls and udon dishes are also available.

4. Maiku Sushi

Maiku Sushi, a sushi bar in Strip District, is another cheap go-to, with four stars out of 175 Yelp reviews. Head over to 1611 Penn Ave. to see for yourself.

The menu offers 18 different sushi rolls, in addition to nigiri, sashimi, noodle bowls, rice plates and more. The restaurant is closed on Monday.

5. Sushi Fuku

Over in Oakland, check out Sushi Fuku, which has earned four stars out of 164 reviews on Yelp. Dig in at the sushi bar and Japanese spot by heading over to 120 Oakland Ave.

On the menu, you'll find new items like the Dynamite Roll with shrimp tempura, spicy crab, cucumber and mango, topped off with spicy mayo. There's also the Shaka Bowl, featuring yellowtail, spicy tuna, seaweed salad, avocado, cucumber, mango, green onions, tempura flakes, wasabi mayo and poke sauce. This restaurant also offers take-out.
