Want the intel on Phoenix's buzziest local spots?

We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to deduce which restaurants have been most discussed this month.

To find out who made the list, we looked at Phoenix businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increase their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

Read on to see which spots are getting plenty of attention, right now.

Open since February, this bar and beer garden, which offers burgers and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Bars" on Yelp.

Citywide, bars saw a median 3.3 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, but Arizona Wilderness DTPHX saw a noteworthy 166.7 percent increase, with a slight downward trend from a 4.5-star rating a month ago to four stars today.

Located at 201 E. Roosevelt St. in Central City, Arizona Wilderness DTPHX offers a small selection of casual fare like burgers, chicken sandwiches and shareable plates of Bavarian pretzel sticks or buffalo cauliflower. While businesses categorized as "Seafood" on Yelp saw a median 2.1 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, Angry Crab Shack bagged a 33.8 percent increase in new reviews within that timeframe, maintaining a mixed 3.5-star rating.

There's more that's trending on Phoenix's seafood scene: King Wong Chinese Food has seen a 5.1 percent increase in reviews.

Open at 2501 W. Happy Valley Road since December, Angry Crab Shack offers a build-your-own seafood basket with your choice of sauce, spices and sides. Plant-based eaters can opt for the veggie tofu option. There's also burgers and sandwiches like lobster rolls and catfish po'boys.
