Matchbox brings New American fare to Washington's Penn QuarterPhoto: Lilly B./Yelp

If you've got New American on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. The new addition, Matchbox, is located at 750 East St. NW in Penn Quarter.

Local wood-fired pizza chain Matchbox features specialty pizzas, such as prosciutto and fig and lobster diavolo, as well as entrees of pan-seared salmon, barbecued baby back ribs and chicken fettucine Alfredo. It also serves lunch and "unlimited" brunch.

The fresh addition has made a good impression thus far, with a four-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp.

Bill H., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new location on July 4, wrote, "The food was flavorful and tasty, and the menu had variety for everyone."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Matchbox is open from 11 a.m.–10:30 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.–1 a.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.–1 a.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m.–10:30 p.m. on Sunday.
