August is here, the weather is fine, and outdoor festivals are in full swing — including Pedalfest for cyclists and Biergartenfest for lovers of beer and bratwurst.
Families can enjoy an overnight campout at the zoo, while urbanites will dig a female-fronted comedy show debuting in downtown Oakland.

"Amazonians" Comedy Night Debut
Crooked City Cider Tap House is debuting a new female-fronted comedy show called "Amazonians" on Thursday night in Oakland. Produced by San Francisco comedians Jackie Keliiaa and Dara M. Wilson, the lineup also includes Nori Reed, Liz Stone, and Karinda Dobbins. While you get your laugh on, sip a cider or beer from one of Crooked City's 35 taps.

Overnight Oakland Zoo-Fari
Zoo-Fari is a chance to spend the night at the Oakland Zoo with family and friends, soak in the sights, see the animals after dark, and enjoy food and drinks under the stars. If sleeping in a safari tent among the animals sounds fun to you, head over to the Oakland Zoo. Attendees must be at least six years old to attend.
When: Friday - Saturday, August 2 - August 3, 4:30 p.m. - 10 a.m.

Pedalfest at Jack London Square
Pedalfest is a chance to eat, drink and be merry on a bicycle, along with 20,000 of your East Bay friends and neighbors. Check out daredevil stunts, art bikes, and a bicycle-powered music stage, along with special events for kids. The event is free (including a free bike valet), and volunteers for the event can earn a free lunch, drink and T-shirt.

Summer Reading Celebration at OMCA
The 15th annual Summer Reading Celebration at the Oakland Museum of California (OMCA) is this Sunday. A host of activities will take place in the garden, including story time in three languages, acrobatic performances, crafts, games, face-painting, giant chess, free books and more.

Biergartenfest
The Biergartenfest celebrates German, Austrian and Swiss culture, so break out your lederhosen and dirndl and come on down. The event features live music, food, drinks, dancing and more. If you like beer, sausages, or traditional Alpine folk music, this event is for you.
