Oakland weekend: Oktoberfest, International Film Festival, Wine Walk, more

Temperatures are expected to drop over the weekend in Oakland, giving us some relief from the heat wave, but our list of weekend events in the East Bay is as hot as ever.

The Oakland International Film Festival continues this weekend, and Oktoberfest is back for a three-day event. On Saturday, take a wine walk along the waterfront at Jack London Square or attend Rolling Loud Bay Area, a two-day hip-hop festival.

The 17th Oakland International Film Festival continues this weekend in Oakland, with showings of films at Regal Theater in Jack London Square and screenings of indie shorts at Luka's Taproom and Lounge. 

Films from around the world are represented at the festival, as well as films made in Oakland and the Bay Area, such as "The Maze: An American intersection", "Murder In The Front Row: The San Francisco Bay Area Thrash Metal Story", and more. 

Events are open to the public, and tickets are reasonably priced.

When: Thursday  - Saturday, September 19 - September 28, times vary

Where: Jack London Regal Theater, 100 Washington St. (and other locations in Oakland)

Oktoberfest at Original Pattern Brewing Company

Original Pattern Brewing Company is hosting a three-day Oktoberfest event at their brewery and tap room in Oakland.

Expect food, live music and special "festbiers" at this traditional European celebration transported to Oakland in style.

When: Friday -Sunday, September 27 -September 29, 12 p.m.

Where: Original Pattern Brewing Company, 292 4th St.

Wine Walk On The Waterfront

Take an evening stroll on the waterfront at Jack London Square (JLS) and have some wine while you're at it. Wine Walk, an outdoor wine-tasting treat with vendors and live music, is returning to JLS.

25 local wineries will be present including Rosenblum Cellars, Dashe Cellars, SF Winery and many more. You must be 21 and over to attend this ticketed event.

A percentage of the proceeds will go to Alameda County Community Food Bank.

When: Saturday, September 28, 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Rolling Loud Bay Area 2019

Called the world's largest hip-hop concert by organizers, Rolling Loud is coming to Oakland's Coliseum grounds for a two-day experience. Along with the music, the festival also includes food trucks, a beer trailer, a barbershop, beauty bar and more. Popular hip-hop artists will perform, such as Future, 21 Savage and Tyga.
