The Gilroy Police Department has confirmed that the glitch with their standard line continues to hamper communication. The department has advised citizens to direct their non-emergency calls to two temporary numbers, (669) 888-4132 or (669) 286-6945, until the problem is rectified.
According to an update on the Gilroy Police Department's Instagram page, "The Gilroy Police Department is continuing to experience an issue with the non-emergency phone line (408-846-0350)." While they work on resolving the technical difficulties with the usual number, a separate line (408) 846-0300 has been provided for records services. Authorities have stressed that the 9-1-1 emergency system remains fully operational and should not be used for non-urgent matters.
Amidst the ongoing disruption, the police department has emphasized the importance of keeping the emergency lines clear for true emergencies. While the inconvenience posed by the outage to the general public is evident, the department has not yet provided an estimated time for when the main line will be back in service. The temporary numbers have been provided as an interim measure, ensuring that residents still have a line of communication with the police for all non-emergency issues.
