"This process, as with any such transition, takes time," USPS said in a statement obtained by the Houston Chronicle. The apparent collision between traditional practices and technological upgrades has been a key factor in the grinding slow-down of mail flow.

According to KHOU 11, the North Houston Processing and Distribution Center is transforming into an RPDC, while the Missouri City facility has taken up the role of an LPC. USPS, which has been fielding numerous complaints on social media regarding the languishing deliveries, promised in a statement that, "We are taking steps to ensure packages are processed as quickly and efficiently as possible and apologize to any customers who may be experiencing issues with delivery of their items." Yet precise details on how the addition of another facility may have decelerated processing remains murky.

With the mail muddle escalating, U.S. Rep. Al Green told the KHOU 11 that he plans to personally visit the plant to gain a better understanding of its operations with the new system. "I want to tour the plant," Green said, sharing the concern over delays that could potentially impact election mail in a crucial election year. Green's district encompasses the site of the beleaguered Missouri City facility, highlighting the urgency of the issue.

A multitude of individuals, including a would-be bride awaiting her wedding dress, have reached out to Green's office for assistance, illustrating the grand scope of the disruption. USPS maintains the modernization is a necessary step toward sustainability and better service. Meanwhile, U.S. Rep.
