The Lithonia Police Department has confirmed the death of Officer Jeff Wiggs, who served the community with a career that spanned over four decades. Officer Wiggs, who worked as a reserve officer for the department for nearly three years, was previously a helicopter pilot for DeKalb County Police and had committed a total of 37 years to law enforcement. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, he recently acted as the president of the Fraternal Order of Police, where his leadership was described as "exemplary."

In a poignant recognition, the department stated, "Our thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Wiggs' family and friends during this difficult time. An angel gone too soon, he will be truly missed." Further details regarding his funeral arrangements are to be released as soon as they become available.
