The Irvine Fine Arts Center is gearing up to launch its spring show, "Reencuentros: Seeing You Again," a photographic homage to personal and universal concepts of home and family. Kicking off on March 2 at their local space, art enthusiasts will get a chance to rub shoulders with the creators at a no-cost artist reception on March 16, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. as announced on the City of Irvine's website.

The eight photographers featured in this exhibit, including Valentina Aproda Maurer and Jamil Baldwin, probe the intimate depths of what 'home' means to different folks. Their captures range from candid kitchen table scenes to evocative portraits, each freeze-framing moment tied to the idea of family. The exhibit gives viewers a visual dialogue on the spaces closest to our hearts. According to "to the City of Irvine's announcement, the photographers use the exhibit to "delve into the ubiquitous and intimate nature of family and home."

Under the curatorship of William Camargo, an arts advocate and founder of the Latinx Diaspora Archives, "Reencuentros" draws a line directly from personal memory to the shared experiences that bind people together. Home, as a concept, turns out to be as layered as an onion and just as likely to bring a tear to the eye as you peel back to the nostalgic core. The work showcased explores the past while remaining very much in the here and now, reflecting on places and faces that shape individual worlds.

"Reencuentros," which translates to "reencounter," pushes viewers to reconnect with bygone feelings or memories associated with home, seasoning the present with the essences of the past. The featured photographers, from Iris Huerta to Rodrigo Morales, craft works that speak to remembrance and discovery. Walking the gallery's offerings till May 18 can be done at no cost. The Irvine Fine Arts Center is nestled in Heritage Community Park, and it'll keep its doors open late Monday through Thursday and wraps up a little earlier on Fridays and Saturdays.
