A Georgetown attorney has landed an 11-year prison stint after pleading guilty to a burglary charge, with the crime involving a violent tirade through his ex's home, authorities said.

Joseph Salvatore Cocchiaro, the attorney in question, was handed down the sentence by a Williamson County jury Wednesday, this decision coming after the man trashed the Round Rock residence on June 12, 2022, leaving in his wake about $80,000 worth of damages, KVUE reported.

The tantrum sent appliances to their demise flipped furniture on its head, punctured holes in walls, and sent glass flying from windows and doors, according to officials; such destruction rendered the domicile unfit for living. An interview by FOX7 Austin with prosecutors revealed that Cocchiaro's fury hadn't been confined to one fatal night, for they presented evidence that showcased a prior forceful attempt to break into the same house, during which an exterior camera suffered damage, along with hundreds of menacing calls made to his ex.

In the after-hours of his wrecking spree, cops discovered Cocchiaro's auto ditched on the side of the road, crashed and empty, and they found him at a Round Rock hospital receiving medical care for injuries said to be minor. "The jury’s sentence in this case reflects the seriousness of this brazen crime," a spokesperson for the Williamson County District Attorney's Office proclaimed, vowing a hardened stance on domestic violence and home sanctity, "We will continue to hold individuals accountable for their actions," as conveyed by KVUE. Alongside the burglary conviction, Cocchiaro faces the music on additional harassment and criminal mischief charges for related antics.
