According to the San Diego Police Department's Watch Commander's Log, a skirmish broke out after a group of 5 or 6 young suspects confronted a similar number of juveniles and called them out for a fight.

The confrontation took a dangerous turn on the corner of Alta View Drive and S. Woodman Street, where one of the suspects allegedly chased down a 17-year-old from the victim group and inflicted two wounds to the victim's left ribs. Police confirmed that despite the violent encounter, the injuries sustained were deemed non-life-threatening, and the victim received prompt medical treatment at a local hospital. The suspects have been reported to flee the scene northbound on Woodman Street, and their identity remains at large, with the hunt ongoing.
