The San Diego Police are stepping up their efforts to capture a suspect involved in a chilling home invasion and sexual assault of a five-year-old girl in the Linda Vista neighborhood. Law enforcement is seeking assistance after a man who matches the description of the previously sighted suspect was caught on surveillance footage making an unsettling return to the scene of the crime, as confirmed by the San Diego Police Department's Facebook page.

The original incident occurred in the early hours of April 18, when a young girl was subjected to "inappropriate" contact by an intruder in her own home. According to a report by Hoodline, the suspect slipped in through an unlocked door and proceeded to the girl’s bedroom, where the assault took place. The suspect is described as possibly Caucasian or Hispanic, approximately 5 feet 8 or 9 inches tall, with a weight between 160-180 pounds.

Following the unsettling act, the young victim informed her father of the ordeal, who contacted the authorities right away. Despite an exhaustive search of the vicinity with K-9 units, law enforcement came short of apprehending the suspect. With the latest return of the individual to the property, captured on video surveillance, the urgency to locate and arrest the suspect intensifies.

Police described the suspect as wearing a dark hoodie with light printing down the left sleeve, an unknown image on the front, light sweatpants, and dark shoes. He was last seen with a backpack and bicycle. The neighborhood, predominantly composed of military housing, is now on high alert as the search continues.

Residents with relevant information or video surveillance are encouraged to contact the Child Abuse Unit at (619) 531-2210 or the SDPD non-emergency line at (619) 531-2000.
