However, a new twist in state law mandates that haulers charge for organics recycling across the board, regardless of consumer participation. On the hazardous waste front, Minnetonka Public Works is hosting a collection event for Household Hazardous Waste in collaboration with Hennepin County. Scheduled for May 3 and 4, the event invites locals to safely dispose of items like old paint, pool chemicals, and gasoline for free, a necessity for maintaining a clean and safe environment for the community.

The city also champions the reuse of goods through its Reuse Swap Event organized by Sustainable Minnetonka on May 11. Residents can bring and exchange up to five boxes of gently used clothing and shoes, promoting an economy of sharing over consumerism.
