Boyle, representing Philadelphia and a Democrat by affiliation, was arrested in 2021 and charged with harassment in addition to the protection from abuse order violation, as reported by NBC Philadelphia. The state representative was released on his own recognizance the following day, but his troubles haven't waned. Two months ago, he was involved in an altercation at Gaul & Co. Malt House where he allegedly threatened the staff. The police report detailed Boyle's refusal to leave the premises when asked and his subsequent ban from the establishment.

As the Pennsylvania primary approaches on April 23, Boyle's political career hangs in the balance. Currently, the Democratic Party holds a razor-thin majority in the Pennsylvania House. This latest incident could prove significant, especially since Boyle faces a stiff challenge from Sean Dougherty, who has amassed considerable support from the state party, as noted by CBS News Philadelphia. Dougherty's campaign has been buoyed by a $72,000 contribution from the PA House Democratic Campaign Committee.

Concern for Boyle's well-being has been vocalized by colleagues. “I love Kevin, but I have serious concerns about his mental health and it breaks my heart to see him this way. I hope he gets the help he needs," House Majority Leader Matt Bradford stated, echoing sentiments that have been expressed across party lines. Bob Brady, head of the Democratic City Committee, emphasized the importance of Boyle's health over his political contributions, sharing similar moments of support with 6ABC.

Despite the outpouring of personal concern, the repercussions of Boyle's alleged actions stretch into the community he represents. Aizaz Gill, Republican candidate for the 172nd district, lamented the situation, "It's a sad day for our community.
