The Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC) is set to make a splash in Dauphin County, announcing a new stop on their Beloved Community tour. Locals in Harrisburg can mark their calendars for April 8, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., when the tour hits the YWCA Greater Harrisburg at 1101 Market Street. The forum aims to give a voice to community concerns and to foster a culture of harmony, with registration available to the public through the PHRC website.

"This statewide tour will provide a forum where the PHRC can listen and better understand the concerns of the community," stated PHRC Executive Director Chad Dion Lassiter, MSW. Outlined in the official announcement, the tour is also set to actively build relationships and partnerships with local leaders and organizations to resolve pressing issues. The forum is the Commission’s latest attempt to quickly forge these bonds in an effort to uphold the concept of a Beloved Community within the commonwealth.

With a mission to promote peace, understanding, and tolerance, the PHRC's Beloved Community framework is more than a mere ideal—it's a roadmap for change. The Commission has been tirelessly touring the state since 2023, setting down in counties like Bucks, Centre, Chester, Cumberland, Delaware, Lancaster, and Philadelphia—engaging citizens and authorities alike in dialogue to bridge cultural and social gaps.

The PHRC's initiative takes its cue from past movements seeking to combat divisiveness, aiming to generate meaningful progress across Pennsylvania's patchwork of communities. "It will also serve as an opportunity to better our Beloved Community, create relationships and partnerships with local leaders and organizations to help them solve controversial issues within communities," Lassiter further explained. As the PHRC continues to weave its way across the Keystone State, citizens are encouraged to take part and contribute to the evolution of their very own Beloved Community.
