The accident, which occurred near the intersection of South Huntington Ave and Cloburn Street, flipped a car on its roof directly onto the MBTA tracks, disrupting the Green Line's E Branch service. According to WHDH, the woman driver trapped inside the overturned vehicle appeared to be OK after crawling out, and was seen receiving treatment from first responders on scene.
Train service on part of the Green Line ground to a halt Saturday evening when the blue car crashed at about 5:13 p.m., with service disruptions lasting until nearly 7:30 p.m, Boston 25 News reported. Eyewitnesses saw the aftermath as the driver managed to escape the wreckage. "I said ‘That’s not a door slamming’ so I came out and then I saw the car flipped over," one local resident Janet Owens recounted, "But she crawled out and walked away and talked to the ambulance drivers and they took her away."
The impact of the collision was severe enough to also damage a parked car alongside the tracks. As crews worked to clear the scene and restore train service, authorities began to delve into the investigation of how this accident happened. "I’m not sure if there is something wrong with track, or like or we need one more red light over here," local Naresh Kumar pondered in a statement to Boston 25 News.
