A San Antonio community is reeling after a single mother was found dead in her home, with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) currently searching for the killer. Ana Ojeda, 33, was discovered on Friday by a friend who grew concerned after being unable to reach her, as reported by KENS 5.

The friend, upon stopping by Ojeda's residence in the 11000 block of Davalos Lane, found the door unlocked and Ojeda lying face-down on the floor, prompting an immediate call to authorities. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office, as per KENS 5, determined that Ojeda had suffered "sharp force injuries to her upper body." Her death has sent ripples through the area, with her killer still at large.

An outpouring of grief was visible at a candlelight vigil held at Ojeda's home on Monday, as loved ones mourned the tragic loss. "She deserves justice," Ana Morales, Ojeda's mother, told KENS 5 through tears. "No woman in the world deserves this!"

"She is so young," Unise Casillas, Ojeda's cousin, said in a heartbreaking admission to KENS 5. "Having to tell a 6-year-old that… it's going to take some time for us to even find the words to tell her. So, as of right now, she is still here. Mommy will continue to live in her heart, but we haven't found the words yet."

Concerned about the financial burden on the young child left behind, Ojeda's family is asking for the community's assistance. Naomi Cruz, another of Ojeda’s relatives, has established a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral costs and to support Ojeda’s daughter. In her call to the public, Cruz emphasized, "I don't want anyone to be scared to share what happened. Even if it's something small like when you last spoke to her or saw her active on social media on Thursday; any form of information can help. Just please come forward."
