Starship Bagel Launches Third Dallas Location with Tribute to Owner's Childhood MemoriesSource: Google Street View

Dallas' own Starship Bagel, recognized as serving up the nation's top-tier bagels outside of New York, has expanded its reach with a third location now open in North Dallas. The shop secured its spot at 6859 Arapaho Rd. #603, has gleaned the title of the best bagel by winning the prime slot at NY Bagelfest 2023 in a blind taste test, as reported by CultureMap Dallas.

Starship Bagel's founder, Oren Salomon, a North Dallas native, carries with him the significance attached to each store, for the new shop is situated in a space bearing personal history. Having once occupied the walls of a Blockbuster Video where Salomon's childhood memories were made, the venue now offers a fresh purpose with its blue and yellow hues paying homage to its video rental past. "I grew up here. I live here now. I plan to keep living here. Dallas represents my past, present, and future," Salomon told The Dallas Express, affirming his steadfast bond with the locale.

At this trailblazing shop, customers won't find an ordinary bagel but will indulge in what Salomon describes as a crafted creation. “We serve bagels that we make from scratch every day, boil and bake all morning every morning, and out of respect for the hard work that goes into our craft, we insist that the bagel be the highlight of anything we serve,” he explained in a statement according to CultureMap Dallas. In line with the craft-focused ethos, the menu at Starship Bagel keeps it concise, with a primary offering of bagel and schmear, and smoked salmon sandwiches among the featured items.

The excitement for the newly opened spot soared with the coming of May the 4th, finding cleverness in the named sandwich "Millenial Falcon," which mirrors Starship's affinity for space themes and quality ingredients—including smoked salmon flown in from Brooklyn. With a blend of earnest culinary practice and local charm, "It all feels very full circle with this location," as Salomon shared his thoughts in a recent interview with The Dallas Express.

Salomon's commitment to the craft pedals beyond just the bakery's footprint resonates in the depth of bagel-loving hearts. “The first bite should be a forceful crunch followed by a deep warm chew that gives way to an infinite landscape of malty and subtle yeasty complexity,” he said, per CultureMap Dallas. Balancing the act of swift service with undivided attention to each customer, the Arapaho Road location also outfits with two cash registers and multiple lines. Designed to cater to the diner eager for a sit-down affair, the space includes seating arrangements, now part of their third foray into Dallas' food scene.
