A suspect has been arrested in connection to a violent burglary that occurred on Monday morning in Southeast Washington, D.C. Early in the morning, at a home on Stanton Road, the intruder reportedly broke in, caused damage to the homeowner's property, and attacked the victim with a metal meat tenderizer, as reported by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Brittany Johnson, a 31-year-old woman from the Southeast area, has been taken into custody by the MPD's Seventh District detectives. The arrest was made on the same day as the burglary, with officers reportedly being able to quickly identify and locate the suspect through the help of special police officers. It was made known that Johnson and the victim were previously acquainted, potentially shedding light on the motive behind the crime.

The Metropolitan Police Department's statement disclosed, "Later that day, with the assistance of special police officers, 31-year-old Brittany Johnson of Southeast, DC was arrested and charged with Burglary One." The report goes on to detail the events of the alleged burglary which took place early in the morning, at around 5:33 a.m., in the 3500 block of Stanton Road, Southeast.

Johnson is now facing Burglary One charges. The MPD has not yet disclosed if additional charges pertaining to the assault within the residence will follow.
