In a stern ruling that resonates throughout Capitol Heights, Maryland, and beyond, 40-year-old Andre Hicks has been slapped with 25 years in the big house for his November 2023 murder rap, the U.S. Attorney's Office disclosed. Hicks callously gunned down Daniel Adams in cold blood on the streets of Northeast Washington, D.C., as reported by the U.S. Department of Justice.

U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves, together with MPD Chief Pamela Smith, announced Superior Court Judge Marisa Demeo handed down the sentence that comes attached with a tail of five years' supervised release following Hicks' release from behind bars. With the entire neighborhood on edge, Hicks sauntered up to 1705 Benning Road Northeast like he had no care in the world – and with a concealed firearm that he would soon unleash upon Adams.

It was roughly 9:10 p.m. when all hell broke loose. Hicks, with a calculated menace, strolled up to the scene where Adams and others were hanging out. Taking a brief moment at the doorstep, he was observed to peer at Adams before pulling his handgun, tucking it stealthily to his side – hidden from the soon-to-be victim's sight. In what was described as a deliberate pace, Hicks closed in on Adams, pulling his gun up and firing off multiple shots. The victim dashed for his life but in vain, succumbing to his injuries a day later at a nearby hospital.
