Arlington REALTORS® Secures $5,000 Grant for 2024 Homeownership Fair to Bridge Affordability GapSource: City of Arlington, Texas

To combat the ever-widening affordability gap in the housing market, the Arlington Board of REALTORS® (ARBOR REALTORS®) snagged a $5,000 grant from the National Association of Realtors®’ Housing Opportunity Program. They are putting the funds toward a homeownership fair aimed at educating potential buyers on how to get into a home without breaking the bank.

The fair, which is free to the public and hosted by the City of Arlington, will kick off on a Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bob Duncan Center. While advance registration is advised and can be done online, walk-ups are also getting a warm welcome.

ARBOR REALTORS® plans to use the grant to give aspiring homeowners the lowdown on financial aid programs, the skinny on their rights as homeowners, and the scoop on maintaining a property post-purchase. "We look forward to partnering with the City of Arlington, Mayor Ross, and the Council, Grants Manager Dr. Nikky Lewis to help promote the availability, affordability, and accessibility of housing for all," Taylor Oldroyd, ARBOR REALTORS®’s CEO, said, as per the City of Arlington, Texas.

Touted as a must-go for current homeowners and hopeful buyers alike, the 2024 Homeownership Fair aims not only to demystify the journey toward owning a home but to lay out the welcome mat for anyone curious about the process. Over 40 vendors will be on deck, doling out information and products to sweeten the home-buying pot, with sessions in both English and Spanish to boot.

“REALTORS® build communities and work hard to make the American Dream a reality for millions of Americans each year,” Larry Hurley, 2024 President of ARBOR REALTORS®, said, per the City of Arlington, Texas.
