A routine traffic stop in Texas led to the arrest of a convicted felon who was found with a loaded gun and is now facing multiple charges, authorities said.

Harris County precinct four constables pulled over Adonni Andrus on May 22 in the 13200 block of Jones Road. During the stop, deputies discovered Andrus was not only a convicted felon but also had a loaded firearm on him and an open felony warrant for his arrest related to past firearm and credit card abuse offenses, the constable's office reported.

“Adonni Andrus was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open warrants, and charged with Felon in Possession of Firearm," Constable Mark Herman said in the statement. Details about the traffic stop that led to Andrus's latest run-in with the law were not immediately available.

As of the last report, Andrus had not had his bond set by the 178th District Court. His legal predicament underscores ongoing issues with repeat offenders, and the challenges law enforcement faces in curbing firearms possession among those with a criminal history. Andrus's case is currently pending, and it remains unclear if he has obtained legal representation.
