A multi-vehicle traffic collision in Sylmar resulted in eight injuries on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. The accident occurred at 14961 W Hubbard St at 2:58 PM, involving multiple vehicles and causing as many as nine individuals to require medical attention. Initial reports by LAFD indicated the potential for numerous patients.

An update later provided by the LAFD clarified that four vehicles were involved in the collision, with one vehicle ending up overturned. Though no one was trapped inside the vehicles, all eight patients were evaluated by paramedics, and two adults were reported in serious condition, while four children, ranging in age from 6 to 12, sustained minor injuries. Two others involved in the incident declined hospital transport.

Despite the usage of seatbelts, some children were not properly secured. The LAFD reported, “Though seatbelts were used, some of the children were improperly restrained (No car seats in use, at least two children sharing one seat belt).” No passengers were thrown from the vehicles, a fact that likely mitigated the extent of the injuries.
