A man was fatally shot in downtown Memphis, and the police say they know who did it. The shooting took place before the break of dawn on Friday near the corner of Main Street and Court Avenue, according to Action News 5. The victim, found critically wounded, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to Regional One Hospital.
Memphis Police arrived at the scene around 3 a.m., responding to the gunfire reported near the Moxy Memphis Downtown Hotel, as WREG states. Gunshots disrupted the early morning quiet, leaving one man with injuries that proved fatal and a suspect on the loose.
Officers located the man suffering from a gunshot wound, promptly transporting him to the hospital in critical condition. However, he did not make it and was pronounced dead a short while later, as reported by Local Memphis.
Detectives state they have named a suspect in what has become a fatal exercise in violence and are working to track the individual down.
